look at this poem i found stapled to a telephone pole. there’s an email at the bottom of it . blurred out obviously. debating emailing it. what do y’all think

Image description:

A typed poem on a paper stapled by all four corners to a wooden telephone pole.

Poem reads: Reward If Found.

Lost Boy, Lost Dog, Lost Bike, Lost Cat. Every corner stapled To keep the paper flat.

This splintered old pole has tasted Scraps of hope Efforts wasted

Never has it ever learned Of vanished things being returned

A final sun-faded flake falls without pity On the cement footprints of a long gone kitty Air eats away at the rusty tack

Always remember Somebody wanted you back

end poem. An email address has been deliberately obscured. End image description.

“they’re just fictional characters, they’re not real!” ok. but you do know that the poc you share the fandom with ARE real tho, right? right? you know they can see the way you react to and treat marginalized characters, right? please tell me you understand that at the very least. please.

oh it’s going down

  • Along with stepping away from all film and television productions worldwide, actors will not be permitted to take part in promotional work of any kind, including press junkets, film premieres, and fan events like San Diego Comic-Con.
  • Sources also say that SAG-AFTRA has informed publicists that any scheduled press or acting work after a strike is ordered must be cancelled. SAG-AFTRA members are also not permitted to promote any work on social media, as that is considered publicity.
  • Actors are permitted to attend the pop culture convention as long as they don’t take part in any panels that promote a specific film or television show or discuss any current or future work. While attendance is allowed, individuals with knowledge of the publicist meeting tell TheWrap that SAG-AFTRA would prefer that its members completely skip the event [SDCC] later this month.

[ID: A darkly lit digital drawing of a butch human and butch mermaid underwater. The human appears to be unconscious and sinking, while the mermaid looks at them with surprise and concern. The human has pale freckled skin, a stocky build, and a blonde mullet. They wear a semi-open white button-up shirt, brown pants, and a brown belt over a black cloth tied around their waist. The mermaid is thin with grey-toned skin, short cropped black hair, gills on their side, and scales and fins on their arms. Their tail is dark with multiple fins, and they do not wear any clothing. Small clusters of bubbles appear around the two. End ID.]

I genuinely hope American media sucks for a while! I hope the big companies keep trying to churn out shit and that it’s all embarrassing garbage! I want it to be extremely apparent to everyone how important the writers and actors are to create good media and that they deserve to be compensated appropriately!!!

Matt Damon has revealed that the “Oppenheimer” cast talked about their strike strategy before hitting the movie’s red carpet premiere in London on Thursday.

“We talked about it,” Damon told Variety on the carpet. “Look, if it’s called now, everyone’s going to walk obviously in solidarity … Once the strike is officially called, [we’re walking]. That’s why we moved this [red carpet] up because we know the second it’s called, we’re going home.”

Damon added: “We gave the strike authorization. We voted 98% to 2% to do that because we know our leadership has our best interest at heart.”

“It’s really about working actors,” he continued. “It’s $26,000 to qualify for health coverage and a lot of people are on the margins and residual payments are getting them across that threshold. This isn’t an academic exercise. This is real life and death stuff. Hopefully we get to a resolution quickly. No one wants a work stoppage, but we’ve got to get a fair deal.”

Worth noting that the cast specifically staged it this way, rather than just not show up, so their walkout would make the news and they could explicitly draw attention to the 170,000+ union actors who aren’t rich and famous.

consider-your-potatoes-mashed:

Why the fuck is it so hard for able bodied people to get their heads around the fact that specifically physically disabled people are not actually accommodated most of the time?

Whether it be the inaccessibility of a building due to stairs, heavy non auto doors, ramps that are too steep, broken elevators or just non existent elevators, etc the list goes on and on. Or now public spaces that let’s say are otherwise perfectly accessible are now inaccessible to so many people because so many people refuse to wear a fucking mask when it would cause then no harm (maybe just a bit of sweat) to wear one.

The fact that abled people don’t see just how fucked up and inaccessible the world is blows my fucking mind. Just because someone “can” do something or go somewhere doesn’t mean they should have to do that or that it’s safe for them to do so. Like sure I can do stairs but holy shit by the time I’m at the top I’m in so much pain and I feel like I’m gonna pass the fuck out man.

Bottom line, the world is really fucking inaccessible and that needs to be fixed. Physically disabled people’s voices need to be listened to and not talked over by ableds who think they know what’s best for us or who think the world is perfect as it is
